Al Salam
What Al Salam collects, what it does not, and how to reach us about it.
Last updated
This policy explains what information the Al Salam apps for Android and iOS ("the app") collect, why, who receives it, and the choices you have. The app is published by Romman Smart Applications LLC ("Romman", "we"), Wadi Al Sir, Ibn Mudaa Street, Amman 11814, Jordan.
1. The short version
-
No account. We don't ask for your name, email, phone number or contacts.
-
Prayer times, the Qibla direction and the Hijri date are calculated on your phone.
-
Some information is collected automatically by services built into the app:
- advertising (Google AdMob; on iOS also Meta Audience Network and Pangle);
- usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase);
- crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics);
- notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
-
Your exact location leaves your phone only:
- for place searches (Nearby Mosques; Halal Restaurants on iOS);
- with feedback you choose to send (iOS);
- (iOS) to Apple's location service, which turns it into the name of your city and country.
Your country may also be estimated from your IP address. (iOS) Our usage statistics also record the city and mosque you choose and the words you search for in books.
-
We do not sell your personal information.

Approximate location, estimated from your IP address
- Received by:
- Google (AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase; Google Maps on Android);

How it is protected
- Information about you is sent over encrypted connections.

- (Android) Some Quran recitation, translation and radio audio is downloaded over plain HTTP. Those downloads carry no information about you except your device's IP address, which every internet request carries.

- If you share something from the app (for example to X/Twitter or a messaging app), that service receives what you choose to share.
We do not share your information with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
Each company above receives only what it needs for the purpose shown, and must protect it at least as well as this policy does.
These companies, and our servers, may process information outside your country, including in the United States and other countries where they operate.
4. How long information is kept
- Usage statistics (Google Analytics): up to 14 months, then deleted. Our analytics export follows the same 14-month limit.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): 90 days.
- Notification tokens: until you uninstall the app or the token expires.
- (iOS) Feedback messages: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- (iOS) Requests to our servers (country lookup, place search): server logs, including IP addresses and any location sent, are deleted after 30 days.
- Advertising data (AdMob, Meta, Pangle), and data received by Foursquare, Google Maps or Apple: kept according to those companies' own policies (links above).
5. Your choices
-
Personalized ads:
- Android: in your device's Google settings, under Ads, delete or reset your advertising ID.
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track". When tracking is not allowed, iOS does not give apps your IDFA.
- iOS, in the EEA and UK: the app asks for your ad-consent choice at first launch. To change it, delete and reinstall the app; the form appears again.
You will still see ads, but they may be less personalized.
-
Location: you can deny or withdraw location permission in your phone's settings, and pick your city manually for prayer times. Place searches use the location saved in the app.
-
Notifications: turn them off in your phone's settings.
-
Feedback (iOS): sending feedback is optional.
-
Stop all collection: uninstall the app.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. These laws include Jordan's, Saudi Arabia's and the UAE's personal data protection laws, and the EU/UK GDPR. You may have the right to ask:
- for access to your personal information, or a copy of it;
- for it to be corrected or deleted;
- for its use to be restricted, or to object to its use.
You may also withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority.
Where your information is held:
- Usage statistics and crash reports are kept by Google for us. They are not linked to your name, so we usually cannot find one person's records. They are deleted automatically (section 4).
- Advertising data is controlled by the ad companies in section 3; use their links.
- Feedback you sent us (iOS): contact us (section 9) and tell us roughly when you sent it and what it said, so we can find it.
Legal basis, where the law requires one:
- your request, for features you use (place searches, feedback);
- our legitimate interests, for usage statistics, crash reports and fraud prevention;
- (iOS) your consent, in the EEA and UK, for personalized ads, which the app asks for at first launch.
We make no automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.
7. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
When the policy changes, we will update the date above. For important changes, we will also tell you in the app or on the store page.
