About this app
What is Heads Up?
Heads Up is a party guessing game for the room you are already in. One player holds the phone against their forehead, everyone else acts out or describes the word on the screen, and the guesser has until the timer runs out to get through as many cards as they can. It is the game for family gatherings, friends' nights and long trips — no board, no pieces, no setup.
How do you play?
Pick a category, then put the phone on your forehead. A card appears that only the others can see, and they act it out for you. Guess it right and tilt the phone down to score a point; if you are stuck or want to move on, tilt it up to skip and get another card. When the round's time runs out you get your score, and whoever is next takes the phone.
Key features
- Plenty of categories: a wide, regularly refreshed set — famous names, singing, sport and much more.
- Know what you are picking: each category shows a detailed explanation of what is inside it before the round starts.
- Fresh every round: cards come up in random order, so the same category plays differently each time.
- Record the round: allow video recording to capture the round, then share the clip with family and friends from the share button.
- Compete on the clock: each round is timed, which is what turns guessing into a contest.
- Talk to us: send suggestions or a message to the support team straight from the app's settings.
Who it is for
It works with a group of three and with a room of fifteen. Families use it to keep children entertained for an hour without a screen each; friends use it as the thing that starts the evening; it travels well because a single phone is the whole game. Categories range easy enough for younger players and sharp enough for adults, so you can pitch a round at whoever is playing.
Tips for a better round
- Read the category description first: a group that knows what is coming acts it out far better.
- Hold the phone flat against your forehead: tilting works off the phone's motion sensor, so a steady starting position makes scoring and skipping reliable.
- Skip early, skip often: a card nobody can act out costs you the round — tilt up and move on.
- Turn on recording for the funny ones: the clips are usually better than the score, and they are one tap to share.
- Rotate the guesser: shorter turns with more players beats one long round, and it keeps everyone in the game.

Frequently asked questions
How many players do I need?
At least one other person, since somebody has to act out the card for you. It works with a small group and scales comfortably to a full room.
How do I score a point or skip a card?
Tilt the phone down when you guess the word correctly to score, and tilt it up to skip the card and get a different one.
What categories are included?
A wide range that is refreshed regularly — famous names, singing, sport and many more. Each category shows a detailed explanation of what is inside it before you start.
Can I record and share a round?
Yes. Allow video recording and the app captures the round, then the share button sends the clip to family and friends.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. The App Store rates it 4+, and the range of categories means you can pick rounds that suit younger players or ones that challenge adults.
Do the same words keep coming up?
No. Cards appear in random order each round, so the same category plays differently every time, and new categories are added regularly.
Is the game free?
Yes, it is free to download and play. An optional monthly subscription removes the ads.
